  1. Hello Marc,
My name is Vicky and I'm petite, 5'2 precisely. I failed the Pare in February. I did very good on the running but I did struggle at the end with the push station, pull wasn't a problem. I weighted 106lbs at the time. Since, then I have been training 6 days a week at the gym, and I changed my diet as well, eating more proteins. I have put on weight and I am now weighting 115lbs. I have been doing some interval running as well (jog, sprint, walk). I live in Whistler. Is there a place that you would recommend for me to do a practice run to see where I am at or do you have the facility to test. Thank you in advance!

  2. Hi Vicky,

I recommend doing a practice run with LEPAT in Abbotsford. I know the gentleman who runs the practices there and he does a very good job providing feedback. If you're not able to travel that far, the closest practice facility that I'm aware of is Code 5 Fitness. They operate out of the YWCA in downtown Vancouver. I am not as familiar with them, but they are an option. I unfortunately don't have a practice facility, but I have been able to simulate the test as best as I can. Here are a couple videos where I've simulated the course and the push with my clients:

  3. Hi,

Is it a good idea to practice the push/pull station using an 80 lb punching bag on a stand?

    1. Off the bat I'd say you wouldn't get a good simulation of the push/pull. I don't think you would be able to get resistance, but it may be helpful for learning technique like foot work and getting into the right body position.

But give it a try. I've never used it myself so my answer isn't definitive.
